We've come to the end of our weekly question and answer segment, finishing with one of the most common misconceptions about taking vitamins...👀 'Is it okay to eat junk food if I take vitamins?' 🍔

In a nutshell – no.
Sadly, you can’t expect to eat rubbish and top up with vitamins. Vitamins do not work in isolation and it’s far more beneficial to eat a varied diet than rely on supplementation.

Eating whole foods in their natural form rather than processed and packaged by the supermarket or fast food outlets means that the wide range of nutrients in our food are able to work synergistically with our bodies.
Aiming for an 80/20 rule works for most people and means you can have a treat now and again safe in the knowledge that for the most part your diet is giving you all the nourishment you need.

However, life is busy, eating on the go is common and stress is unavoidable so consuming vitamins through drinks or supplements can definitely help to give you a boost.

This evenings question is one many people are probably asking... 'I'm fed up of staying indoors, it's really affecting my mood, can nutrition help?' If social distancing has you feeling blue, here are some of our tips to keep your mind happy and healthy whilst you stay inside.

1. Exercise 🚴- When your body exercises it releases chemicals called Endorphins. These chemicals encourage positive feeling in your body, promoting positive mental health. Just 20 minutes of circuits or yoga from your living room could give you a real mood boost. Our BCAA Active can with caffeine is the perfect thirst quencher for before and after exercise, and to combat fatigue.

2. Practise Mindfulness 🧘- Pay attention to the present moment and try not to think too far ahead. Focus on your thoughts, feelings and the positive things around you. This will help you look at things in a new perspective and overcome obstacles you may be facing.

3. Learn a new skill 🖌️- While you may be working from home, you will probably find you have slightly more time on your hands than you usually would. The practice of setting goals, which is related to adult learning in particular, has been strongly associated with higher levels of wellbeing. There are plenty of e-learning sites, Youtube tutorials and books that can help you achieve your new goals, in turn raising your self-esteem.
